the Canucks

Well, the Stanley Cup playoffs have officially hit Vancouver. The flags are on the cars, articles about the Canucks are now appearing in section A of the newspapers, and all conversations start off with "did you see that last game???". I must confess, that I am enjoying it. There is a buzz in the city. It is something that everyone can have in common. Whether you are a lawyer, pilot, barista, stay at home mom/dad...whatever, everyone can have a chat about the Canucks. My only disappointment is that cost of the tickets. I would love to take my kids to a game, but they are just way TOO EXPENSIVE. Even in the regular season, the price is just beyond most people's budget. I recommend that tickets for children should be offered at a reduced price, but Mr. Nonis would never do this as he has 17000 season tickets holders to fill the coffers every season.
So, needless to say, I am not going to the game tonight. But my family and I are picking up some sushi and wine and going to a friends house to watch it on the telly, which suits me fine!

A must see...

I was just reading two of my friend's blogs, commenting on films they went to see over the weekend. Well, since my children are still young, I rarely get a chance to actually go to the cinema, but I did rent a fantastic DVD over the weekend. It was called Blood Diamond and was one of the best films I have seen in a long while. I am sure everyone has heard about it. It is a difficult film to watch and realize that these things did, indeed, happen such a short time ago. There is no happy ending, no sex, no star that is on the cover of People Magazine every week in the middle of scandel and fashion faux pas...It is just an important film that can remind us of the world around us and the little things we can do to make a difference...

I am still here..

It has been ages since I have had some time to sit at my computer and write something, as I promised myself I would do. Today is my youngest son's birthday. He is 3 today and I cannot believe it. My husband and I decided years ago, that on each of our boy's birthdays, after all the activity is finished and they are off into bed, he and I would share a bottle of champaign together to celebrate between the two of us what we have achieved with regard to our boys over the year. March is a good month for us, as both of our son's are born this month! So I sit here in the office, with a bit of a buzz from my bubbly, and I am very happy. Seeing my guys today, enjoying the day and eachother...it was nice. Tomorrow is R's party...at the beach, so let's all pray for good weather. A hot dog/marshmellow roast are on the agenda, along with a pirate birhtday cake that I managed to ice before I had my first sip of champaign...thank God.
I never realized one could have so much pleasure from a three year old's birthday....priceless....

THREE THINGS I HOPE FOR THIS WEEKEND...
1. I get my income taxes done!!
2. the rain stops...it has been raining here for ages...we have to grow gills to live in Vancouver!!!
3. The yorkshire puddings I am planning to make for my dinner party on Saturday actually turn out and do not end up like hockey pucks..

Looking at these three items, they are pretty frivolous in the big scheme of things. Life, at this moment, is not too bad...

Light at the end of the tunnel

What a day! The sun in shining, the blossoms are appearing, I am greeted by more smiles than I have been in the last few months. Perhaps spring has arrived...Eager to get into the spirit of spring, my boys and I rode our bikes to swimming lessons this morning. It is a pretty easy cycle, only about 20 minutes each way, but it was so invigorating...for them as well. I felt like a kid again myself, going fast, hopping the curbs...it was fun.
Time to go play hockey in the driveway...My eldest likes to pretend he is Marcus Naslund...

Yoga

Can someone please explain this to me...
I recently enrolled in a beginners Yoga...101...for people who have never done yoga before...just learning the basics!!!!
I arrive at the class and 90% of the class are all decked out in their Lou Lou Lemon gear, with LLL yoga mats and know all the poses by name. Here I am, wearing my MEC running pants and top not having a clue what I am doing! When asked if anyone in the class had done yoga before...everyone put their hand up. Yeah, right!!! It just pissed me off a bit.
